VARANASI: Two weeks of he was killed in the Uri terror attack, a soldier from Uttar Pradesh became a father. His third daughter was born after he died, and has been named ‘Bharti’, in honour of her father’s service.
Rajesh Kumar Yadav, who was from Dubhar village in the Ballia District of eastern Uttar Pradesh, was among the 19 soldiers killed in the terrorist attack on a base in Uri on September 18.

He was the sole breadwinner of his family, which includes five sisters and four brothers. His wife had been in an advanced stage of pregnancy with their third child.
The baby girl was born on October. Yadav has two other daughters – Preeti and Priyanka. The newest addition to the family had been named ‘Bharti’ by her grandmother, to recognize that the father she will never meet had been killed in the service of ‘Bharat Mata’.

The last time Rajesh had come home, he had asked his family to paint the house in the colours of the National Flag. Now, after his death, his family is doing so.
